Can the vejuVe® Enhancer help with conception?
We've had so many people ask us, "Can I use the vejuVe when trying-to-conceive?" or "Will the vejuVe help with trying-to-conceive?" The answers are; yes, you can enjoy the vejuVe Enhancer when trying-to-conceive; and yes, we believe the vejuVe Enhancer will aid with trying-to-conceive. This article is chalked full of detailed information including illustrations to explain how. We carefully reviewed the few options that are currently available on the market and prepared this very informative piece for those couples who are trying-to-conceive.
To summarize, the vejuVe Enhancer is a vaginal insert that is not only designed to enhance the pleasures of intercourse, but we believe, will also aid couples with conceiving. The unique shape and design of vejuVe, helps with pooling semen at or near the cervix. When semen is pooled near the cervix, there is a much great potential for semen to enter the cervix to allow for natural conception. It's very simple! The enhancer rolls up, inserts into the vagina and gently unrolls within the vagina to stay comfortably in place. When semen is deposited within the vagina, the semen will pool at the base of the vagina, at or near the cervix - see illustration below.
In this article, we'll cover:
- Some general information about the structure of the vagina
- How vejuVe works
- Lubrication
- Methods for aiding conception using the vejuVe Enhancer
Follow this link for instructions on how to insert the enhancer.
Let's Start with the Structure of the Vagina
The vaginal canal is relatively smooth in texture before puberty and after menopause. However, during reproductive years, the woman’s vagina naturally develops soft folds of skin that mimic a corrugated surface over its length. This corrugated surface has many folds, bumps and ridges that are known as vaginal rugae. These soft folds of skin vary in size from one female to another and allow the skin within the vagina to expand and contract to accommodate everything from sexual intercourse through to child birth. The entrance to the vagina is typically tighter as there are more muscle bands near the entrance, as seen in the illustrations below. The girth of the penis is typically felt at the entrance to the vagina. As depth increases within the vagina, the soft folds of skin temporarily stretch to accommodate objects entering the vagina.
The soft folds of skin can trap and hold semen along the length of the vagina. When semen is trapped within these folds, the semen may be prevented from pooling at the base of the vagina near the cervix. If the female elevates her vagina in an effort to move the semen to the base of the vagina near the cervix, the semen may still remain trapped within these folds of skin. In the illustration below the semen can be seen to nest within these soft folds of skin along the length of the vaginal canal.

Here’s where the design and shape of the vejuVe Enhancer comes in. MAURLIN® believes that the vejuVe Enhancer may help with conception by exposing the cervix to larger amounts of semen. This method for aiding conception is similar to the cervical cap insemination method, in that, the cervix is exposed to larger amount of semen. The cervical cap insemination method uses a cup shaped device filled with semen, which is then placed over the cervix. This method has been shown to help with conditions of poor sperm motility, low sperm count, and/or an unfavourable vaginal environment (low vaginal pH – acidic conditions). The vejuVe Enhancer has some distinct advantages over the cervical cap insemination method. Let’s first go over the shape of the enhancer. There are three main elements to the vejuVe Enhancer:
A the portion that remains outside of the vagina,
B the narrow portion at the vaginal entrance, and
C the portion that curls up and inserts into the vaginal canal.

Portion A remains outside of the vagina and prevents the enhancer from being wholly pushed into or inserted into the vagina during insertion and/or during intercourse. Portion A also allows the user to clasp the enhancer for ease of removal.
Portion B of the enhancer is narrow and has a curved shape to allow a penis to enter the vagina. During intercourse the vejuVe Enhancer will effectively increase the girth of the average male penis by ~30% at the entrance of the vagina (the average male penis being 1.5” or ~40mm in diameter). In addition to the enhancer increasing girth, it also pushes the penis into the clitoris and G-spot areas for greater stimulation for the female. See below for additional information on recommendations for use.
Portion C curls up and inserts into the vaginal canal and performs a number of functions. The primary purpose is to gently uncurl within the vagina to hold the enhancer in place while it also flattens out the soft folds of skin within the vagina allowing the semen to pool at or near the cervix.
The best part about the vejuVe Enhancer is that it can be enjoyed in the comfort and privacy of your own home, is simple to insert & remove, is easy to clean and sterilize, and can be used over and over again. The enhancer is manufactured in Canada with ISO certified body safe silicone. All of the materials are supplied from trusted sources that formulate the base materials in the United States.
The vejuVe Enhancer comes with;
- A discreet storage case,
- 15ml of paraben free, water based, lubricant (also Made in the USA), and
- 10 grams of corn starch baby powder for powdering the surface of the enhancer after washing.
Let's take a closer look at how vejuVe pools semen at the cervix
The vejuVe Enhancer, while inserted within the vagina, flattens the soft folds of skin within the vagina, as seen in the illustration below. Notice how the vaginal folds within the vagina conform to the shape of the vejuVe Enhancer.
Semen will pool in this cup shaped area, exposing the cervix to larger amounts of semen. The illustrations below show the vejuVe Enhancer inserted within the vagina with semen pooled at the entrance to the cervix.
The surface of the vejuVe Enhancer is smooth, which further allows the semen to flow more easily towards the cervix. The shape of the vejuVe Enhancer also creates a barrier to help prevent semen from flowing out of the vagina.
In summary, there are three main points with regards to the function of the vejuVe Enhancer aiding with conception, those are:
- comfortably flattens out the soft folds of skin within the vagina - preventing semen from being trapped within those folds,
- creates a cup shape at the end of the enhancer to pool semen near the cervix - maximizing the natural process of insemination, and
- creates a barrier to help prevent semen from flowing out of the vagina - see recommendations for use below.
Further Advantages of the vejuVe Enhancer
A large number of women have reported success through using the cervical cap insemination method (utilizing a cup shaped device filled with semen and placed over the cervix). Essentially there are two main ways that this method can be used. The first approach is to place a cup shaped device (some women use Diva cups / menstrual cups) over the cervix after the male has ejaculated into the vagina. An alternate approach is to have the male ejaculate into the cup shaped device, then carefully place the cup over the cervix. There are two main challenges with both of these approaches. In the first approach, it may be difficult to tell how much semen has been collected into the cup prior to the cup being placed over the cervix. Furthermore, natural acidic vaginal secretions (which kill sperm) can be scooped up into the cup with the semen. In the alternative approach, with ejaculating in to the cup first, it may be difficult to keep the semen in the cup while positioning the cup over the cervix. The second challenge with both of these approaches - difficulty with correctly placing the cup over the cervix. The vejuVe Enhancer solves these challenges by:- having a simple device that does not require sophisticated positioning,
- is very easy to insert into the vagina,
- pools a majority of the semen near the cervix,
- exposes the cervix to larger volumes of semen,
- eliminates the concern that there may be a significant amount of semen outside of a cup - when cups are used,
- no need to carefully position a cup over the cervix (further reducing natural acidic vaginal secretions from coming into contact with semen),
- helps prevent semen from flowing out of the vagina, and
- helps prevent semen from being trapped within the soft folds of skin within the vagina.
Lubrication
The vejuVe Enhancer is supplied with a paraben free water-based lubricant that closely mimics the natural thickness and pH of fertile cervical mucus. The thickness of the fertile mucus allows sperm to move more freely through the cervix and into the uterus during ovulation. The pH of fertile mucus is less acidic than the natural pH of a woman’s vagina. Throughout a woman’s monthly cycle, the vagina naturally has a pH variation of between 3.8 and 4.5, which is an acidic and hostile environment for sperm. With sexual excitement, the natural vaginal lubrication changes the acidic environment within the vagina to an approximate pH of 7, thus creating a more favourable condition for sperm survival1. Semen has a pH between 7.1 and 8.02, while the water-based lubricant that is supplied with vejuVe has a pH of ~7.
Keep in mind, there are a number of fertility lubricants on the market which can be used with the vejuVe conception aid. The enhancer can be used with any water-based and/or vegetable oil-based lubricant (coconut oil, olive oil, canola oil). MAURLIN® recommends avoiding silicone-based lubricants while enjoying the vejuVe Enhancer.
Methods for Trying-To-Conceive with the vejuVe Enhancer
There are two recommended methods for using vejuVe as a conception aid.
- Method #1:
